About MCET

MISSION: Maryland Council for Equestrian Therapies (MCET) is an organization first formed in 1987 to provide a statewide forum for the exchange of ideas, skills, information, experiences, and resources related to all aspects of Therapeutic Equine Activities.

MCET supports and promotes Equine-Activities and Equine-Assisted Therapy in

Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia:

  • Professional development and networking opportunities

  • Promotion of Maryland Special Olympics and the MCET Challenge equestrian sports events

  • Annual exhibit at the Maryland Horse World Expo

  • Encouragement of new programs that utilize horses in therapy

  • Educational seminars

  • Facilitation of research and collection of data on various aspects of equine assisted activities and equine assisted therapy

  • Educate the general public about the benefits of equine-assisted activities and equine-assisted therapy

  • Promote exemplary safety guidelines and operational standards

  • Facilitation of communication among Maryland centers
